Subband signal processing for hearing aids
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper a hearing aid concept working in subbands is presented. Consideration is given to the compensator for recruitment of loudness and the acoustic feedback cancellation. In addition, a step-size control for fast tracking and a constant error level with non-stationary input signals is presented. The feedback canceler is adapted to the feedback path in the transform domain using a power-normalized least mean square (LMS) algorithm. The transformation into subbands is based on the modulated lapped transform (MLT). Together with the feedback canceler the proposed hearing-loss compensating forward filter is computationally very efficient.

Subband Adaptive Feedback Control in Hearing Aids with Increased User Comfort
This report describes important physiological and anatomical aspects of human hearing, including instruments for hearing improvements, i.e. hearing aids. One common problem with hearing aids is acoustic feedback (howling). A new subband Adaptive Feedback Control (AFC) system for hearing aids is proposed. This system detects howling by calculating distances between zero crossings in the subband ...
متن کاملA Multichannel Subband Gsvd Based Approach for Speech Enhancement in Hearing Aids
The major goal of a noise reduction algorithm for hearing aid applications is to improve speech intelligibility. In [1], a multichannel noise reduction technique, based on a Generalized Singular Value Decomposition (GSVD) has been proposed. The GSVD based filter minimizes the Mean Square Error (MSE) between the desired signal portion in the received signals and a filtered sum of the received mi...
متن کاملCounteracting Acoustic Disturbances in Human Speech Communication
A time domain based method for rejection of tonal disturbances in speech signals is presented. Tonal disturbances in personal communication arise from a variety of erroneous stimuli, such as environmental sounds from rotating machinery, acoustic feedback from public address systems, or hearing aids and internal circuitry in some personal communication devices. The method is based on the zero cr...

متن کاملNeural networks for speech separation for binaural hearing aids
This paper deals with the use of neural networks for separating speech from other noisy sources in binaural hearing aids. In sound separation systems implemented in binaural hearing aids, the right and left hearing aids need to transmit to each other some parameters involved in the speech separation algorithm. The problem is that this transmission reduces the battery life, which is one of the m...
